Fort Knox Five meet Bob Marley
Don’t often say this, but first time I heard this remix it blew me away. It could be me getting old, I know, but what the Washington based funkateers did to Marley’s classic Duppy Conqueror is simply great. Fort Knox Five stay close enough to the original spirit of the song, but still give the original skank a wonderfull swing. Great (re)work.
The tune is taken from the 2007 release ‘Roots, Rock, Remixed’, xhich also features their ska fuelled mix of ‘Soul Shakedown Party’.
Here’s the original Duppy Conqueror.
And here’s them playing the song during rehearsals.
Porque Te Dub
Something to go with the weather getting hotter and hotter. A digital laptop dub of the very old (and very cheesy) Spanish seventies classic song “Porque Te Vas”. We even have to admit it sounds great. Very unnecessary but highly inresistible. Courtesy of Jahtari.
It’s out now on 45-vinyl on Jahtari’s Jahmiga imprint. But you can have a listen over at their site. Have a good summer.
And while we’re there, there’s some more news from the Jahtari stable. Like The Wire offering two unreleased tracks as exclusive downloads on their site.Wicked.
