Jahtari again
Echo addicts beware. Jahtari’s back with some bass-charged grenades. Two of these dub bombs come in the shape of two new Maffi-EP’s. “No / Dancehall Nice Again” marks the return of Solo Banton with these 100% Maffi-powered space rockets that are destined to detonate right on the decks. We especially got blown away by Dancehall Nice Again. Killer tune!
And there’s more. Some time ago we already let you in on the Porque Te Dub song. Rough and nice and cheesy and out now on 45-vinyl on the mysterious Jahmiga imprint. This rough edged cover version of the undying 1974 Spanish classic Porque Te Vas has sexy female vocals and a pop factor that could put ABBA to shame. Not to be missed!
And while you’re over there at Jahtari’s place, you can also grab this Kalbata mixtape called Crucial We Crucial. Expect anything from Channel One to Ujama, from deadly 80s MC action to Casio powered bliss. Forgotten gems, ultra-rare cuts, one surprise after the other. It’s all there, straight from the golden era of the late 70s to mid 80s. And it’s a free download. What more do you need? Some art work, you say? Don’t worry, it’s there.

Porque Te Dub
Something to go with the weather getting hotter and hotter. A digital laptop dub of the very old (and very cheesy) Spanish seventies classic song “Porque Te Vas”. We even have to admit it sounds great. Very unnecessary but highly inresistible. Courtesy of Jahtari.
It’s out now on 45-vinyl on Jahtari’s Jahmiga imprint. But you can have a listen over at their site. Have a good summer.
And while we’re there, there’s some more news from the Jahtari stable. Like The Wire offering two unreleased tracks as exclusive downloads on their site.Wicked.
Another digital gem from Jahtari
This one was released a few weeks ago on the Jahtari label. They dug it up from the depths of the chest of unreleased material. Makes you wonder how much more gems they’re still hiding down there.
It’s a vocal cut on the Survivor riddim – which of course we all remember from Soom T’s irresistible Dirty Money EP. The vocals this time are delivered by El Fata bringing us a powerful message on a steamy riddim. Have a listen below, then step it up to the Jahtari site for the stripped down version of the riddim – courtesy of Disrupt.
Some more Jahtari fun
Echo addicts rejoice! The never-resting Jahtari crew brings us some fun new dub projects.
First of all, the Bo Marley boys are back with their newest cassette release, the much anticipated sequel to their classic “Bo Marley vs disrupt”-LP, called “Masters Of The Universe”. Deeply exploring the groovy twilight zone between HipHop, Dub and Chiptunes goodness this detail-packed tape comes in a limited edition on yellow cassettes!
There’s also a cracking new live recording over in the tapes section from a killer Cool & Deadly night at the ultra-packed GlazArt in Paris. Standhigh Patrol at the control, w/ Pupajim on the mic, seriously testing your subwoofers.
You can also drop by the spreadshirt-shop for some new cool (and affordable) Jahtari T-Shirt, all done by hand and with lotsa vibes. And finally, coming up soon are a new Maffi-7″ (feat. Pupajim), a new compilation “Jahtarian Dubbers Vol. 2″, plus something fresh on the Jahmiga-front.

Full analog 8-bit rewind going fast forward with this nice article about the Jahtari label, Disrupt and the flea market fortune. You can find it over at Phlow magazine.
The article comes with a Phlow Jahtari Mixtape entitled “A Fistful Of Dub”.

Bo Marley live
Funny and funky. Bo Marley performing live in front of a Leipzig supermarket. Including their nearly classic “Fleish”.
New vinyl from Jahtari
Summer’s almost gone, but Jahtari keep their dubs hot and steamy. Straight from the vinyl presses come three brand new twelves that will keep you skanking for quite some time.

First off is a haunting twelve by Leipzig duo llyah & Ltd. Candy, collecting two Jahtari net-classics and two new tunes on one hypnotic vinyl. Number two is the mighty Afrikan Simba exploring the remote corners of vast reverb landscapes and oversized scoobs with a strong spiritual message. Power in the word, indeed. And finally there’s another Maffi 7″, this time with Hopeton Lindo on the mic.
If this is the future, then why wait for it if you can get it right here right now. With Jahtari the future is now.
Digital laptop reggae
Just a reminder. If you would ever have some doubts about the future of dub, then there’s always the digital laptop reggae of Jahtari. To put it simple: this is classical dub reggae done with today’s computers. First of all there’s dub and the soul of it, let there be no doubt about that. But there’s also the urge about doing something to dub that hasn’t and couldn’t been done before. Jahtari is true 21st dub. Check them out as often as possible (their site has a great retro-futurist look) and above all: enjoy!
Here’s Soom T and disrupt with a set recorded live during a festival in Norway. There’s lots more in the pics/else section of the site.
Digital laptop reggae
Jahtari is digital dub in the true sense of the word. The Leipzig-based record label calls it “digital laptop reggae”. On the one hand it’s dub (and reggae) in the classical sense; the way King Tubby, Lee Perry or Scientist did it. But it’s also 21st dub because over at Jahtari’s they do it with the only tool that is obvious to use for that purpose – a computer, and a computer only.
So Jahtari is classical dub made with a laptop. As simple as that. You can check it all out on their site, where you can read about their philosophy (a must-read) and download or order the music (many must-listens).

The Compuriddims EP is the newest release on Jahtari and it’s once again a strange but wonderfull one. To quote the promo:
Picking up the tradition of 1960ies pioneers of electronic music, like the people at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Giampiero Boneschi, Piero Umiliani and all the other forgotten library music heroes, TAPES is taking it an easy step further towards bass country. Blowing a healthy dose of Ganja smoke into the ever-spinning wheels of his 4-track machine and clashing it properly Dubwise with skanking subs, hi-current powered drummachines and a heap of MAX-MSP madness the result will simply make your ghettoblaster weep with joy…
Enjoy …
