I-Plant new album out now

Rockerstyle ! is the brand new album by old school dubber I-Plant, featuring Roberto Sanchez (Lone Ark), Kiko (No More Babylon), Ganja Tree, Benoni o’ Shar, Zion UK & Sista Bethsabée.

Webcam Hi-Fi meets I-Plant

Tube Dub Sound Records announces a new vinyl 12” where Webcam Hi-Fi meets I-Plant inna heavy rootical style. Vocalists are Roberto Sanchez on “Things and time” (side A) and Syreen on the B-side “Foundations”. Both singers are backed by a rootsy stepper. As in the previous Tube Dub Records releases, the rhythm grabs you and doesn’t let go for a second. This release (#10 on Tube Dub Sound) is once again the sound we’ve gotten to love from both french dub acts.

The release is announced for within a few weeks, but you can already have a listen here and hear for yourself how great this dub from the heart sounds. Play loud and of course don’t forget to buy the record.

I-Plant – Blacksoul Remix 2

After several 10” on their own label I-Grow Records, french dubbers I-Plant brought us an original concept with their “Blacksoul Remix”. Now comes the second chapter of the story, in which I-Plant once again mixes original soul voices with rootsy reggae riddims and a slice of dub.

“On the origins of the project, there was a remix of Michael Jackson that we used to play live on our sound. The people loved it !!! Next, I started looking for a capella’s on the net and I found all those old hits … BlackSoul was born … The first remixes I did where with the voices of Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye … BIG RESPECT !!!”

The recipee is fairly easy. You take some classic soul voices, like Aretha Franklin, the Supremes, Michael Jackson or Marvin Gaye. You add a reggae riddim and a few instruments. You mix it all up, using some reverb and some echo. Then you top it off with some fine artwork and finally you serve it real hot.

That’s just what I-Plant did in 2007 with his mix of soul, reggae and dub on “Blacksoul Remix” and now he does it again with “Blacksoul Remix 2″. On the first record you could listen to “My World Is Empty Without You”, “Papa Was A Rolling Stone” and “Billie Jean”. Chapter 2 brings us more of the goodies with “I heard it through the grapevine” and “It takes two”, amongst others. It’s once again a great listen, with the greatest voices of soul, performing inna dub style.
