Dub Kweli blends Talib Kweli with classic dub reggae

Max Tannone is the guy who in the past has given us the Jaydiohead (Jay-Z & Radiohead) and more recently the Mos Dub (Mos Def meets dub reggae) remix albums. Now he drops another mash-up album called Dub Kweli. It blends the voice of Talib Kweli with classic dub reggae tracks.
You can listen and download it here: dubkweli.com.
In case you might have missed Max Tannone’s previous mash-up projects, there are also links to those on the Dub Kweli site.
Mos Dub!

Mos Def goes reggae. At least, that’s where Max Tannone has sent him with this excellent mash up album called Mos Dub. This a mix between Mos Def vocals and classic reggae samples sounds great, with Mos Def sounding totally at ease in dub country. Nice soundtrack for a hot and breezy summer night.
By The Time I Get To Arizona
DJ Spooky meets Chuck D for an update of D’s classic track By The Time I get To Arizona.
Some webcam rapping
How do you call this? A webcam rap? Still, this sounds really crazy. It’s Swedish rapper Eboi spitting on Busta Rhymes Break Ya Neck instrumental.
Twice the first time
Not until you listen to Rakim on a rocky mountain top have you heard hip hop, extract the urban element which created it and let an open wide countryside illustrate it.
In case you would be wondering who this is. It’s Saul Williams in his very early days, somewhere in the (mid?) nineties. This is hiphop the way we always liked it – ever since a friend of mine played the Last Poets and blew my mind with it (or at least the part of my brain where the music is stocked).
Hip Hop Kreyol
Video from the always interesting Kote Ayiti blog. It’s a shorter version of a 20 minutes documentary about hiphop in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
