Dub Power with Dziga

Fresh Poulp Records presents its last release of the year 2010. The honours go to Italy-based producer Dziga and his Dub Power ep. It’s his first digital release, containing five tunes mostly inna dubstep style with a few slices of electro dub. Nice one.

Tribute to Dubkey
French radio show Radio Dio did a one hour tribute to netlabel Dubkey. No talking, just the music playing it strictly dubwise.

Then go check out the Dubkey site. The third installment of Manwel T’s Virtual Dub is now ready for download. It’s another set of dub remixes with steppers and roots reggae leading the dance. But you also get to hear original Studio One DJ General Smiley on two electronic dancehall tunes and John Brown’s Body and their complex rock reggae style. Nice one!
Outovalo in Dub
We discovered this one through dub-connection-net. They made it their tune of the month and we can fully understand why. “Bombaclot” is a nice percussive dub tune with some refreshing piano flavours. Great tune!
We couldn’t find out much about this Outovalo, besides that he’s originaly from Slovakia and now lives in Tampere, Finland. But there’s more from him on Soundcloud that is definitely worth checking out. Tunes like Mountain Sun and especially Baobab Dub are just nice.
Version Big-Fi meets …
This third album from Version Big-Fi sees them remake/cover/remix/version classic reggae/dub tracks in their own way … which means making stuff sound as Big-Fi as possible. Listen and download the full album including artwork from here.
Just to wet your appetite, listen below to the dub version remix etc of Marcia Griffiths’ classic Studio One tune “Feel like jumping” which used to be a big hit way back in 1968. This dub is guaranteed to make you dance!
When done listening you should also check Version Big-Fi’s new website, which looks great. Great graphics for some great sounds. What more do we need?
Dub Kweli blends Talib Kweli with classic dub reggae
Max Tannone is the guy who in the past has given us the Jaydiohead (Jay-Z & Radiohead) and more recently the Mos Dub (Mos Def meets dub reggae) remix albums. Now he drops another mash-up album called Dub Kweli. It blends the voice of Talib Kweli with classic dub reggae tracks.

Saetchmo’s myspace friends dubmix
Found out about this one just a few days ago. Turns out it’s over there for about a year or more. Anyway, who cares. This is one hell of a dubmix, uploaded by Saetchmo who called it “my-myspace-friends DubMix“.

Stop That Train 20
Shame on us for missing out on this newest mix that Version Big-Fi did for their Stop That Train series. It’s even a bit of an anniversary with this one being number 20 in the series. And once again it’s a killer. The festivities start off with Version Big-Fi’s very own Boom Boom featuring General Echo and they end almost an hour later with Afrikaan Beat. In between we’ve been listening to several crucial tracks blended together in an exciting aural trip.
