In the garden of dub

Positive Vibes is a new netlabel out of the United States, founded by Kris Naphtali who wants to share the good vibes with as many people as possible. The first release on the label is the compilation “In The Garden Of Dub”, a nice collection of reggae and dub tunes from around the globe.

The album starts off with the slow paced “Deliverance Prayer” of Kibir La Amlak, immediately followed by Belgium’s finest Crucial Alphonso‘s and his Ayubu Steppers. A great start for an album that delivers its promise of positive vibes and contains many good quality tunes. There’s for instance an excellent Roots Hi-Tek with a dark souding and intriguing Bulawayo Rock. Massada rounds things off nicely with their minimalistic dub style.

Dub Vibrations part 2

Last year the excellent Belgian website reggaedub.be gave us their first Dub Vibrations compilation. With this collection they wanted to present some free digital steppers, as well as promoting the Belgian scene. Now they continue their quest with a second chapter. Dub Vibrations 2 delivers once again 10 heavy steppers from Belgium and 2 from Ivory Coast. You can stream or download the compilation for free from the reggaedub site.

New portal for all things reggae and dancehall

New thing to come. BeljamForum, Antwerpmassive.be and the classic Reggae.be have decided to create a new portal for all things reggae and dancehall (and dub, we hope). Be it old school or new roots: just get over there and join the fun.

Steppers delight with Crucial Alphonso

Visionary Creation is the first album of Crucial Alphonso, an Antwerp-based roots/dub engineer and producer who specializes in powerful instrumental dub steppers.

Crucial Alphonso is highly influenced by classic UK dub and contemporary European dub/steppers releases. So you know what to expect. Visionary Creation brings us twelve heavyweight digital steppers (six tracks and six versions), ready to take you into that dancing mood – soundsystem style. It’s all there: the thumping bass drum, the thundering bass, the cutting skanks and the loud horns.
But there’s also nuff vibes for the soul, with some delicate strings, a moody flute and the ital binghi drums courtesy of Ionyouth.

Visionary Creation is released by netlabel Dubkey and the album is available for free download. Steppers all the way so don’t hesitate. Play on a soundsystem and make them dance to this one!

Double Dub in Bruges

For those of you that might be in the surroundings of Bruges (Belgium that is) on april 25th, there’s a dub and dubstep event not to be missed. Double Dub is a brand new project, created in a collaboration between Forward Fever and Suburb Soundz. The project is meant to bring dub, roots and dubstep to Bruges city. The first edition of the Double Dub event is already very promissing.

In the Dub Room there’s roots and dub with Slimmah Sound (ft. Lyrical Benji + Jah Melodie), Forward Fever (ft. Saimn-I), Crucial Alphonso (ft. Roots Pressure) and Dub Fi Youth.
In the Dubstep Room you get Nero, F-One, Underground Ice, Science Of Two + TapeShifter and Giraffe Sound.

Dub Vibrations from Belgium and France
