Lee Perry On The Wire 1987
Streamola has delved up this tape of an On The Wire radio session with Lee Scratch Perry and Adrian Sherwood. The broadcast dates back from 1987, the year both dubmasters released the classic Time Boom X The Devil Dead album on On-U Sound. Listen to it or download it from the Streamola blog.

Over at Streamola you can also enjoy lots of streams that were originally webcast on the now defunct streamola.com in the period 1999–2001. There’s some truely great stuff over there.

Mungo’s Hi Fi with Soom T
Life can be simple. You take a great sound system. You take a great singer. You put one and one together and what do you get? Right.
Mungo’s Hi Fi performing live at a garden party with Soom T on vocals. Glasgow style!

Kode9 podcast for XLR8R
![]()
On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Hyperdub label, labelhead Kode9 will be releasing a two-disc compilation. “5″ will both look back at the label’s history and show us the groundwork for its future.
Those of you who can’t wait till next week, can now listen to the podcast he posted on XLR8R. He takes a little step back in time for a set comprised of classic UK garage and 2-step from the period 1999-2002.
He already played this “Bubble ‘N’ Squeak Mix” for a special broadcast of the “On the Wire” radioshow, where he was one of the guests celebrating 25 years of On the Wire. Now you get a proper download from the XLR8R site. Enjoy!

Some webcam rapping
How do you call this? A webcam rap? Still, this sounds really crazy. It’s Swedish rapper Eboi spitting on Busta Rhymes Break Ya Neck instrumental.

Radio Mauritsstad
For those of you that understand dutch, belgian radio maker Zjakki Willems has produced a great series of radio documentaries on the musical traditions of Recife and Pernambuco. Brasil that is. With Radio Mauritsstad he digs into the roots of this Brasilian musical melting pot, also takes a closer look at the mangue beat (and much more) and finally ends with today’s vibrating music scene. With interviews and lots of exciting music.
For those of you that don’t understand dutch: never mind the talking, just listen to the music.
And by the way, glad to see that the sadly missed belgian radio show Cucamonga has turned itself into an equally fascinating blog.

This is the law of dub
Dub of Version Big-Fi’s fourth single “This Is The Law” (Big-Fi Dub). And if thìs is the law, than we should ever and always pay our respects to it. So, respect (to Version Big-Fi of course ;-).

Two new releases on Pressure Sounds
Shortly after the release of Delroy Wilson’s “Dub Plate Style” and Tommy McCook’s “Pleasure Dub”, the good folks over at Pressure Sounds bring us another essential dub album and a wonderfull vinyl single.
The first one is a fifteen track cd (or a ten track album) with ten early King Tubby dubs from Clancy Eccles productions that are as rare as they come. This is truly a very obscure album, that has only recently been discovered. Sound System International showcases King Tubby’s early mixing style, reminiscent of his best work with people like Glen Brown. Tubby takes these straight forward reggae songs, turns them upside down and on to somewhere completely different. Killer dubs !!!
The 10 track vinyl version is the original album repressed as was. The cd version has extra King Stitt and the Dynamites tunes.

The second gem is a vinyl single. Jah Wobble gives us two new versions of the classic “Get Carter” movie theme. A thunderous heavyweight dub by one of the best bass players around. Turn it up and play out loud.
You can check out some streaming tracks from this album on the Pressure Sounds website.

Schlump Vibration does it again

Apart from a guest tape that was posted some months ago, Schlump Vibration’s latest mixtape dates from way back in march 2009. So we got a little worried about when the next one would be posted. Yesterday our (im)patience was finally rewarded with Mixtape #14 and we can safely say it was worth the waiting.
#14 is titled Music like dirt and it’s a killer, once again. The music ranges from Prince Buster to Disrupt and all in all Schlump gives us 80 minutes of wonderfull tunes. Check the playlist for yourself, then download it and – of course – play in full. Wicked!
